Water supply
Siikainen's water and sewerage services are implemented partly in cooperation with the City of Kankaanpää and the Municipality of Merikarvia.
The Siikainen waterworks uses groundwater from the Kernikanna catchment area and water purchased from the city of Kankaanpää, which is of good quality for domestic use. The annual consumption of clean water in the municipality is approximately 70 m³. The water quality is monitored in accordance with the monitoring programme drawn up by the health authority.
There are also numerous property-specific domestic water wells in the municipality. The municipality provides a few material grants annually to households that want to build a connection to the municipal water supply network.
The wastewater from the whitefish farms is treated at the renovated Merikarvia wastewater treatment plant in Krooka. The plant processes a total of approximately 250 m³ of wastewater annually. The treated wastewater is discharged approximately one and a half kilometers into the sea.
