In Siikainen, wilderness, oasis swamps and lakes combine to create a landscape that is enlivened by fields. The settlement of villages concentrated along watercourses values pure nature and the vastness that opens up around them. Nationally significant cultural landscapes in Siikainen include the Leppijärvi village cultural landscape, the Vuorijärvi village, the Leväsjoki village and cultural landscape, and the Otamo village. Aestheticians are attracted by the special feature of the local peasant houses: decorative hexagonal glass porches.
There are approximately 1450 permanent residents in Siikainen, and the population more than doubles with the arrival of holidaymakers. There are approximately a thousand summer homes on the banks of Siikainen's waterways, of which over 800 are owned by residents from outside the municipality. Siikainen's urbanisation rate is 31% and the population density is 3,8 inhabitants per square kilometre. Siikainen is widely populated throughout the municipality. Kirkonkylä has just under a thousand inhabitants, and the other largest villages are Hirvijärvi, Leppijärvi, Leväsjoki, Otamo and Sammi.
The municipality is one of the largest in the province, with an area of 491,37 square kilometers (of which land area is 463,09 square kilometers). The landscape is enlivened by lakes and rivers (55 lakes). Siikainen is also the municipality with the most forest in Satakunta. The municipality has certified its own forest farms as organic. 76% of the municipality's area is forest, 8% is arable land, 7% is mire and 6% is water. The municipality's economic structure has diversified in recent years and industrial production is particularly strong (including Satateräs Oy, TopKnit Oy, Sauplast Oy, Pakkalan Konepaja Oy).
Near the village, on the shores of Lake Siikaisjärvi, there is a recreation and tourism area called Eteläpää, with ancillary services, aimed at local residents and tourists.

The printed version of the Kuntauutiset magazine is distributed to households, and the summery, robust reading package Suvi-Siikainen is also distributed to leisure residents.
