Leppijärvi is the northernmost village in Siikainen, about 13 kilometers from Kirkonkylä. The settlement of Leppijärvi village came from Ostrobothnia in the 1680s.
You can even go to Leppijärvi by bike, as the sights along the way, such as peasant houses, an authentic hexagonal Sikai glass porch, and beautiful rural landscapes, will enhance your journey.
The highest point in Siikainen, Katselmankallio, is located in Leppijärvi, which is part of the Haapakeidas mire conservation area. The mire is part of the Lauhavuori – Hämeenkangas Geopark area.
The Katselmankallio nature tower offers beautiful views of the largest continuous bogs in Southern Finland and, on clear days, all the way to the sea. From the nature tower, you can observe rare birds and other animals that live in the bog. By following the Haapakeita Nature Trail, you can explore the beautiful bog landscape, where in the summer you can smell the intoxicating scent of bog lilies. Along the trail, you can stop and enjoy a snack at a rest area built on the shore of Lake Haapajärvi, where the scenery is nice to breathe in.
