Finnish Orienteering Long Distance Championship Home Village 2020

The distance from the Siikainen parish village to Vuorijärvi is just under 12 kilometers. The first farmer arrived in Vuorijärvi in ​​1693.

The hilly dirt road winds through lush forest landscapes until a beautiful rural setting opens up before your eyes, with Lake Vuorijärvi sparkling in the sunshine beyond. This landscape was also the site of the 2020 Finnish Long Distance Orienteering Championships. Several square kilometres of terrain were mapped for the competitions.

The competition took place on September 12-13.9.2020, 1623 and attracted 200 competitors, including cheerleaders and support staff. A volunteer team of over XNUMX people helped make the competition a success. The competition, scenery, arrangements, terrain and environment received well-deserved praise.
