Youth council

The Siikainen Youth Council operates under the authority of the Siikainen Youth Services and is based in the municipality of Siikainen. The Siikainen Youth Council is religiously and politically independent and operates as an expert body for young people within the organization of the municipality of Siikainen.

The main goals of the Youth Council are to promote the well-being of young people by developing leisure services for young people and improving opportunities for young people to have an impact. The Youth Council is an active group that organizes various drug-free events for young people and participates in decisions affecting young people in the municipality of Siikainen. The Youth Council supports youth work through its own activities. The Youth Council takes initiatives when necessary and in this way also encourages all other young people to participate and influence social issues.

The members of the Youth Council are young people aged 12–19 from Sikai. The Council can consist of a chairman, six (6) members and 2 deputy members. The members of the Youth Council are elected by the Youth Council General Assembly, which is held annually and is open to everyone. All young people aged 12–19 from Sikai are eligible to stand for election and have the right to vote.
